Ubuntu / OS X / Active Directory - mount vfat partition

My Mac OS X 10.6 laptop is a member of our Active Directory domain, and as such, uses my AD UID as the owner of all the files in /Users/myuser. Since this is the case, I have been unable to access all of my files while booted into Ubuntu... Therefore, to share my Eclipse workspace with both OS X and Ubuntu, I created a FAT partition on the hard drive using Disk Utility, moved my workspace folder to it, then add the following entry to Ubuntu's /etc/fstab:

# my shared partition
/dev/sda3 /home/myuser/shared auto rw,auto,gid=1000,uid=1000,umask=0007,exec 0 0
